I was born in Australia, grew up in Wellington, and retired to Northland. This move inspired me to take up painting. As a self-taught artist I attended art classes painting with acrylics and oils, the latter becoming my favourite medium.
After painting for a few years, I had offers to purchase my work and that led me to realise that there were a number of artists in the area who also wanted an outlet to exhibit and sell their work. So I created the annual Aorangi Art Sale, which exhibited more than 25 artists works each year. Sculptures, garden art and paintings were all part of this much anticipated and successful event.
A move to Vanuatu for a decade changed my focus to small commissions and volunteer teaching at the local Ni Vanuatu school. Since my return to New Zealand, I have expanded my art to include larger commissioned pieces and although I continue to paint sea and landscapes, the vibrant colours of flora and abstract are a joy to create.
